A 39-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning for allegedly beating up his girlfriend at knifepoint at his residence in San Vicente last week.

Anthony Joseph Sakisat Camacho was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, assault, and disturbing the peace.

At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail and appointed assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit as counsel for the defendant. Assistant attorney general Barbara Cepeda appeared for the government.

Preliminary hearing will be on March 7 at 9am.

Police Detective Peter A. Aldan stated in his report that the alleged victim filed the complaint against defendant Camacho last Wednesday.

Aldan said according to the victim, she went to Camacho’s residence on board a taxicab in the evening last Feb. 21.

Camacho allegedly ran out of the house as she was walking back to the taxi, then grabbed her hair and dragged her into the house.

Inside the house, the defendant allegedly punched her head while accusing her of having an affair.

The victim said that last Wednesday afternoon Camacho accused her again of having an affair and repeatedly punched her face and head and kicked her back.

She said she could not escape because during the beating, the defendant was pointing the tip of a knife at her stomach.

That night, she escaped when Camacho walked into Lucky De Mart in Dandan, leaving her inside the car. She drove the car and called a police officer.
