Road repair request
To Reps. Joseph P. Deleon Guerrero and Joseph M. Palacios: On Nov. 8, 2011, I filed a request for road repair at the Mayor’s Office. The road, Nagao Place, is eroded often from the runoff of the college. I also asked my neighbor, Mr. and Mrs. Cesar Villaluz, to help follow up the request. We did our job in following up the request; however, every time we call we are told that the machine for repair is being fixed. We regularly follow up this problem but it seems that there is no help in sight.
I read the papers that our Washington delegate is talking about unspent CIP federal grant. I know that this fund will go back to the feds if we do not spend it. Are there chances of re-programming the money in order to spend it where it is needed? If this is a possibility, why is there no action? What are we waiting for?
One of our big problems in the CNMI is the development and maintenance of our secondary roads; not just repair but plan, pave and fix them well so that they last. We, the residents do not have to ask for repair every time it rains.
Right now, what we need at Nagao Place is repair-a real good repair work. Next, the CNMI should plan and build secondary roads to last, not just repair them after the rain. Is there a highway engineer on the island or in Guam who can help? If we have to do the building of the roads well, we need the help of a competent engineer. Thank you.
