Govendo frees Customs officer in alleged gun pointing, baseball bat attack

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo yesterday ordered the temporary release of a Customs officer accused of pointing a gun at a man and attacking him with a baseball bat in Garapan.
Govendo issued the release order after defendant Abraham Falig signed an appearance bond and posted a $10,000 property bond.
The judge directed Falig to have no direct or indirect contact with the victim, Jack Sachuo.
Sachuo was taken to the hospital after he sustained bruises and scratches on his left elbow and shoulder.
Sachuo told police that, on June 12, 2012 he was sitting in front of New Chang Ming Market with friends when Falig and a female passenger arrived aboard a car.
Falig got down from the car and allegedly hit Sachuo with the baseball bat but it flew away.
The Customs officer then allegedly pulled a handgun and pointed it at Sachuo. Sachuo dared Falig to shoot him. The officer then picked up the baseball bat and hit him on the left elbow and left shoulder.
The victim managed to run away. The following day, police arrested Falig.
