Parent leadership workshop this Saturday at Chacha

The 2016 National Parent Leadership Month ends tomorrow with a Parent Leadership Development Workshop at Chacha Oceanview Middle School. The event will be held from 7:30am to 3pm.

The highlight of the day is recognizing and awarding the 2016 Parent Leaders. A total of 40 were nominated from various public and private schools on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

Last year’s parent-nominee Luis Camacho and Jymma Pamintuan will deliver their welcoming remarks and inspirational message after the registration and Posting of Colors.

Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Laura Ogumoro and Division of Youth Services administrator Vivian Sablan will lead the parent nominee recognition along with Camacho, Junnie Masga, and Maria Olopai.

Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence executive director Maisie B. Tenorio will then discuss the issue on teen dating violence, while Jesse Ramon, of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, will talk about disaster preparedness after the morning break.

Ayuda Network, Inc. executive director Diane Camacho will be discussing about the Commonwealth Respite Service Program, while Project Care coordinator Ana B. Ada, of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation’s Community Guidance Center, will talk on the system of care and child mental health.

Psychologist and project manager Debra Brown Lee will give a lecture on suicidal ideation and suicidal self-harm behavior, while a parent involvement group activity will follow led by Rita Castro, a national certified parent group facilitator.
