NMI Thespians earn superior ratings in Texas

The four-member CNMI Thespian junior team earned superior ratings in the International Thespian Society competition held over the weekend in Denison, Texas.

The team is composed of Jonathan Wolf of Dandan Middle School in the monologue category, Hopwood Junior High School’s Bonie Gio Sagana in solo musical theater, and the pair of Nehemiah Fernandez and Lovely Mae Mariano of San Antonio Middle School in duet acting.

All three entries received top ratings with Fernandez and Mariano asked to perform again in the National Individual Events Showcase on Sunday.

Marilyn Mendoza (HJHS), Maria Mettao (SAMS), Kristine Wolf (DDMS), and Andy Golden of Saipan Southern High School were the chaperone coaches of the CNMI’s four junior thespians.

The team spent almost a week in Texas after arriving on Dallas on Wednesday, Feb. 10. They spent the first day by visiting a park for some relaxation.

They rehearsed the following day where they also visited the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.

They arrived in Denniso, Texas, the festival site on Friday. They went to their first workshop after registering.

They got invited to participate in another workshop and the final showcase after getting Golden Tickets.
