To revitalize visitor arrivals from Japan, the Marianas Visitors Authority and Delta Air Lines have begun a series of travel trade FAM tours targeting wholesalers in the country.
The FAM tours are one of the proposals made in a December 2015 meeting in Saipan between CNMI elected and industry leaders and Delta management.
“We’re pleased to see the discussions we had in December being implemented in a collaboration between Delta and the CNMI,” said MVA Managing Director Perry Tenorio. “By bringing in travel agency planners to experience the Northern Marianas for themselves, we anticipate a greater interest in the islands, which we hope will translate to more sales of the destination.”
The first group of planners visited from Jan. 27 to 30, 2016, and included representatives of JTB World Vacations, H.I.S., R&C Tours, Delta, and the MVA’s Japan office. The group conducted site inspections at hotels and various tourist attractions.
“As this is one of the most popular times to visit the Northern Marianas, we owe a big thank you to all the industry partners who supported this FAM tours with donations of hotel accommodations, meals, optional tours, and others,” said Tenorio. “This is a great opportunity to
work together on reviving the Japan market.”
Similar FAM tours are scheduled for later athis month and next month, as well. (PR)
