The 2016 CNMI Liberation Day Committee is inviting interested young ladies from Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and the Northern Islands to join this year’s Royal Court for the Fourth of July celebration.

Application period began last week, Jan. 27, and the deadline will be on March 12, Saturday. Application forms can either be picked up at the Saipan Mayor’s Office or email ldccnmi@gmail.com.

Rose Ada, a member of Liberation Day partner Skywalker Communications Group, is in charge of the overall activities for the CNMI Royal Court. The contest, mostly for fundraising purposes, is open to single ladies from 18 to 25 years old.

A separate ceremony will be held at the Saipan Mayor’s Office to introduce the candidates on March 14, which will also mark the start of the fundraising activities for all the Liberation Day Queen aspirants.

Last year’s Royal Court Princesses Mary Jane Anon, Stephanie Camacho, and Ashley Tabilisma said in unison that it was a memorable experience just by joining and getting involved in a lot of community work. They are encouraging their friends to also join.

Hocog said they had lined up several events for the candidates leading to the coronation night. “There will be training for the girls and they will have more community involvement. We also plan to enhance their skills and make it a memorable experience to all.”

Saipan Mayor’s Office special assistant Henry Hofschneider said they are asking for the public’s support to make this year’s celebration successful and memorable.

“It is still a long way to go. So we’re inviting all ladies out there to join if you want to help the community and have a meaningful experience that you will surely cherish,” Hofschneider added.

The counting of funds raised begins on Monday, June 27, at 5pm at the Saipan Mayor’s Office. The coronation will be on July 1 with the venue to be announced at a latter time.

Last year, Zolenska Yaroitemal became the first candidate from the Northern Islands to be crowned the Liberation Day Queen.
