Last week, the entire staff and management of the Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority participated in a two-day professional development training on passenger assistance and sensitivity training.

Certified Community Transportation Association of America Passenger Service and Safety trainer, Ginger Porter, M.Ed said in a statement, “The COTA Team is making great strides in skill and knowledge about transit services.  Their completion of nationally certified training in Passenger Service and Safety this past weekend provides the Saipan community with trust that operators, dispatchers, and all office staff are attuned to customer service issues and safety procedures.  It was a pleasure to bring this training to such an eager group and I look forward to seeing the development of the COTA system.”

In order for COTA to continue delivering safe and courteous transit services for our community, the proper training opportunities should be afforded to the team accordingly. The need for this particular type of training echoes the fact that passenger transportation is a service industry.  The most important asset in any transit agency or provider are the transit operators. By providing these training opportunities for the COTA team, skills and knowledge are enhanced for each team member that will, in turn, benefit the CNMI community as a whole.

Special Assistant for Public Transportation Alfreda P. Camacho shares, “One of my goals here at COTA is to do the very best I can to professionally develop this young and striving team.  Each one of us who make up the COTA team plays a vital role to ensure that we provide the best quality transportation service to our community.”
