Guerrero stressed the need to continue the war on methamphetamine or “ice” waged by his predecessor, James Deleon Guerrero.
Guerrero asked all local law enforcement agencies to continue to work collaboratively with DPS to make the community safer particularly on the war on “ice.”
“It has been proven that working together as one shows that we cover more grounds,” said Guerrero in his speech during the swearing-in ceremony at the DPS Central in Susupe. Gov. Ralph DLG Torres administered the oath.
The commissioner asked federal law enforcement agencies to continue to work together with DPS to achieve the goal of eradicating the “ice” problem in the CNMI.
To DPS personnel, Guerrero said in the past weeks, they’ve made plans and that now is the time to put all that to work.
“We need to continue to prove our community that we are the CNMI’s finest,” he said. “We need to vigilantly pursue our war on ‘ice,’ no matter what it takes,” he said.
Guerrero expressed gratitude and appreciation to Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Victor Hocog for their confidence in appointing him as DPS commissioner.
He thanked his family, mother, late father, and siblings and their family for supporting him along the way.
Last April, Guerrero was sworn in as commissioner of the Department of Corrections. He succeeded James C. Deleon Guerrero as DPS commissioner.
Torres appealed to DPS personnel for their patience, understanding, and cooperation as the administration will initiate “changes.”
Torres urged DPS to continue the war on “ice” in the Commonwealth.
