Joeten players haul awards in JP World caging

Joeten players collected five individual awards in the recently concluded 2nd JP World Corp. Customer Appreciation Basketball League.

Dixon Kwon led the list of Joeten players awardees as he took home the regular season MVP trophy and was also named to the Mythical Five selection. Joining Kwon on the elite group was teammate Alex Lauron, while Elmer Esdrelon of champion Tan Holdings, MBI/KFC’ Ivan Devero, and McDonald’s McClain Achas complete the selection.

Other Joeten players who received individual trophies during the league’s awards ceremony last Wednesday before Game 2 of the finals series were Juanito Sambile and Steven Rasa. Sambile led the league in steals, while Steve Rasa topped the rebounds department.

Saipan Ice & Water’s Treat Kaipat won the Best in Assists award, Docomo’s Robert Sanciangco ruled the 3-point category, and Mariana Resort’s Fred Litulumar reigned supreme in the blocks department. Two more individual awards were presented with McDonald’s Gil Gapor winning the Best Defensive Player plum and James Benavente of Commonwealth Utilities Corp. bringing home the Best in Sportsmanship trophy. The Sportsmanship Award in the team category went to Top Development, Inc.

Mobil’s Sergio Alves, Tom Anitok and Jennifer Duenas handed the awards to the players and teams.

The second edition of the JP World caging featured nine teams with Tan Holdings winning the championship after edging Joeten in the best-of-three title series, 2-1. Tan Holdings took Game 1, 84-68, while Joeten prevailed in Game 2, 84-82, to force a rubber, which the former won, 86-80.

Esdrelon was named as Finals MVP after scoring 23 points in Game 3.
