PSS looking for construction manager
The Public School System is looking for a manager that will oversee construction projects for repairs and renovations.
According to Education Commissioner Dr. Rita Sablan, they have a request for qualification for the said position.
“It’s a proposed qualification that we need for our different projects like the renovation and repairs of the buildings, for the energy project we need for the construction, different types of projects,” Sablan said.
“We are soliciting for qualification proposals from the community to be construction managers,” she added.
Sablan said there are still a lot of projects that they need to do with regards to repair and reconstruction due to the damage brought about by Typhoon Soudelor.
“We have five big projects under [Federal Emergency Management Agency] public assistance,” Sablan said.
She added that they also have three big projects under grants and loans in addition to their normal repairs and maintenance.
Several schools were impacted in different ways when the typhoon hit last August.
Garapan Elementary School sustained electrical damage in their roofs when the tin was blown away by strong winds.
Marianas High School was also among the heavily damaged and rained out by the storm.
One classroom was damaged at the Dandan Middle School. Several other facilities were partially damaged.
