Courtesy resignations sought

Courtesy resignations from the top officials at the helms of the CNMI government will be sought this week.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres will ask for courtesy resignations from Cabinet officials and special assistants during a meeting today, Tuesday, a senior official close to his thinking said.

Office of the Governor press secretary Ivan Blanco also separately confirmed that courtesy resignations from Cabinet members—as expected with the change in administration following the passing of late governor Eloy S. Inos last Dec. 29—will be sought.

Seen as standard procedure with a new administration at helm, the request is set to be made a week after Inos’ funeral last week, when the CNMI gathered to mourn the late governor. Then lieutenant governor Torres and then Senate president Victor Hocog ascended to the top posts in the CNMI government the day Inos passed.

Blanco also last week confirmed a report that Department of Public Lands Secretary Pete A. Tenorio has expressed his intent to submit his courtesy resignation to Torres. The late governor Inos appointed Tenorio to the position.

Current Cabinet members are, among others, Finance Secretary Larissa Larson, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Laura Ogumoro, Labor Secretary Edith DeLeon Guerrero, Department of Lands and Natural Resources Secretary Richard Seman, Department of Commerce Secretary Mark O. Rabauliman, Department of Public Safety Commissioner Robert Guerrero, Department of Public Works Secretary James Ada, Department of Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Clyde Norita, and DPL’s Tenorio.
