Suspect in stabbing of woman in San Antonio falls
Department of Public Safety spokesman Jason Tarkong said Cherlynn M. Worswick, a local, was located at the Koblerville Youth Center at 12:05am.
Tarkong said police arrested Worswick at 12:20am for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Tarkong said the victim, a 52-year-old Filipina cashier, received 15 stitches to the right hand at the Commonwealth Health Center’s emergency room and was later released.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services earlier described the victim as a 23-year-old Filipina.
Tarkong said police responded to a reported disturbance call at the Islander Mini Mart just east of PIC on Sunday at 11:57am.
Police learned that the victim was in the store when the suspect, who was later identified as Worswick, assaulted her with a knife.
Tarkong said Worswick confronted the cashier and stabbed her with a knife.
Worswick fled the scene prior to the arrival of police officers.
Tarkong said the suspect was identified though witnesses and video surveillance.
Medics transported the cashier to CHC.
On Sunday, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio signed an arrest warrant for Worswick and imposed a $10,000 cash bail.
Tarkong said the case is still under investigation to confirm the motive behind the attack.
