The Saipan Korean Badminton Association held a tournament last Dec. 12, Saturday, at the badminton courts of the Tan Siu Lin Sports Complex in Gualo Rai.

It was the first badminton tournament, sponsored by the Korean Athletics Association, after power was cut off for close to two months since Typhoon Soudelor hit Saipan on Aug. 2.

SKBA, which currently has 16 members, and Northern Marianas Badminton Association affiliates celebrated when power returned in mid October.

The one-day tournament started at 9pm to accommodate the schedules of some SKBA members who still have work. Matches went on until 12:30am.

All of those who participated in the tournament were also eligible to the raffle where exciting prizes were given away thanks from the donations made by generous sponsors.

The doubles matches were divided in to male and female and playing levels.

A dinner was held at Kanoa Resort the following day where the new set of SKBA officials were elected. The evening ended with a karaoke at Zoom Café right across Kanoa.

SKBA is inviting those who are interested to learn how to play badminton to join them in their daily and nightly games at the TSL Sports Complex. Membership is open to all.
