The Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association held its final event of 2015 last week with a three-person beach volleyball tournament.

Close to 10 teams joined the event held at the sand courts of Hyatt Regency Saipan.

Even a brief downpour didn’t derail the victory of the trio of Tyler Willsey, Angie Mister, and Ben Dasalla as they emerged as the top team after the elimination and seeding rounds.

They defeated the team of Dale Roberts, Steve Beyer, and CNMI U19 girls’ volleyball team member Emily Jones in the finals.

Sean E. Frink, Tyce Mister, and Aaron Frink finished third.

NMIVA also thanked Phalai Frink and Russ Quinn for organizing the event, along with volunteers Emily Frink, Amie McRoberts, Sharon Cabrera, Jinju Thompson, and Ian Mayne.

NMIVA’s next event is another grass volleyball tournament on Jan. 16, which is similar to the two-person reverse co-ed event they held last year at the Navy Hill court.

NMIVA will also help prepare Saipan in hosting the 24th edition of the Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival this year.
