Interior Assistant Secretary for Insular Areas Esther Kia’aina released the following statement on the passing of Governor Eloy Songao Inos: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Governor Inos. My prayers are with his family and the people of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The Department of the Interior remains steadfast in supporting Governor Inos’ efforts to improve and to strengthen the relationship between the United States and the Northern Mariana Islands. I look forward to honoring his legacy with Governor Ralph Deleon Guerrero Torres and Lieutenant Governor Victor Borja Hocog at the helm. I am fully confident in their leadership and continuity during this critical time.”

Bette Bolivar, Commander, Joint Region Marianas, regarding the tragic passing of Governor Eloy Inos: “On behalf of Team Joint Region Marianas, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and people of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands for the loss of a beloved leader. Governor Inos will always be remembered for his dedication to the CNMI and for his friendship to the U.S. military. He will be forever missed.”

The CNMI Judiciary joins the Commonwealth in mourning the passing of Governor Eloy S. Inos. Throughout his years as a public servant and leader, Governor Inos exemplified an enduring compassion for the Commonwealth and its people. His life’s work benefited so many, and his approachable style of leadership will be greatly missed.
