The Jokers IT&E Voyagers dropped a 7-6 decision over sister team StraightBlackBall but remain on top of the standings in the Budweiser-Saipan Billiards Association Open 8-Ball Tuesday League after last week’s matches held in various bars on the island.
Rodel Dela Cruz secured the win for StraightBlackBal after dispatching the Voyagers’ Mark Butac in the final game of the Singles 8-Ball event for a 7-4 tally.
But with all games need to be played, after each win and loss is counted on the standings, the Voyagers swept the last two Partner’s 8-Ball events.
The Voyagers still holds a league-best 55-36 record followed by the Destroyers, another sister team, with a 51-40 card. The Jokers Docomo Hustlers are third (48-43).
The StraightBlackBall (41-50), Jonny’s Titans (40-38), and the Jonny’s Crazy 8 (38-53) complete the standings.
In other games, the Titans escaped with a 7-6 win over Crazy 8, while the Hustlers scored a 9-4 triumph over the Destroyers.
Results last Dec. 15 had the StraighBlackBall and the Voyagers completing 8-5 victories each against the Destroyers and the Titans while the Hustlers slipped past Crazy 8, 7-6.
In the Thursday League, which played last Dec. 17 before taking a two-week break, the Jokers Homeboyz and the Wild Bill’s Rack ‘N’ Roll each pulled off 8-5 wins over the Jokers Wildboyz and Jonny’s Team SCS while the Wild Bill’s Wild Wild West edged top ranked National Alamo Car Rental, 7-6.
Alamo is up by a win (48-30) over the Homeboyz (47-31), while the Wildboyz are a close third at 43-35. The Wild Wild West (35-43), Rack ‘N’ Roll (33-45), and Team SCS (28-50) are the other squads.
There won’t be any games on Thursday, Dec. 31, with matches resuming on Jan. 7 next year with the Wild Wild West and the Rack ‘N’ Roll facing off while Team SCS takes on the Homeboyz and Alamo hosting the Wildboyz.
