Brian Morris runs along the shore after completing two laps of the swim leg in last Saturday's Enticer 2 at PauPau Beach. (Roselyn B. Monroyo)  Enticer 2 belonged to sophomore Brian Morris as he completed last Saturday’s pre-XTERRA long course race with the fastest time in the group.

Morris, who debuted in XTERRA Saipan Championship last year, had a combined timed of 1:19:10 to beat Enticer 1 winner Butch Sublemente. Sublemente failed to notch back-to-back Enticer wins as he came to the finish line at PauPau Beach four minutes behind Morris. Rounding out the Top 3 in the XTERRA long course was Lewie Tenorio, who submitted 1:24:42.

Enticer 2, which was part of a series of pre-XTERRA/Tagaman races, started with the swim leg in the PauPau Beach. Long course participants did two laps of the swim course from Paupau to the left side of the beach near Palm’s Resort. Then in the bike leg, Morris and company went up to Marianas Country Club to the million-gallon tank, turned right to Kimikaze Trail, took the paved road to Santati Trail, turned left at the junction (instead of turning right to Cowtown) and then headed back to the paved road for the starting/finish line. The run leg brought participants to the end of La Fiesta, one million gallon tank, and to the trail in the opposite direction at the start of the bike course before returning to PauPau.

Other long course finishers in the XTERRA division were Charlie Sendin (1:31:32) and John Douglas (1:36:00).

In the short course, Mieko Carey was first to make it to the finish line, completing the race in 44:30. Carey said she decided to do only the short course only as it was a good training for her. The pro triathlete then rested for less than 10 minutes and negotiated the same short course again. Jay Diyco was the other participant in the short course and timed in at 1:03:50.

After the one-lap swim leg, Carey and Diyco turned right to Marianas Country Club, pedaled up the million gallon tank, turned left to the FEBC road, turned left down to Middle Road, and turned left again on the way back to PauPau. In the run leg, they went up to one million gallon tank and back to PauPau.

In the Tagaman long course, Florence Antonio was the top finisher, timing in at 1:30:59, less than a minute ahead of Ronald Villafria, who did the run leg barefoot and clocked in at 1:31:31. Manny Sitchon completed the Top 3 with a combined time of 1:36:20. Other long course finishers were Ben Babauta (1:36:44), Daniel Calvo (1:37:25), Paul Plunkett (1:42:10), and Jun Lee (1:59:32).

In the short course, Nicky Nichols was first to cut the tape, submitting 1:15:34 and beating James Abuy (1:15:34).

The Tagaman short course had participants doing one lap of the swim leg and then for the bike race, they went to Banzai and back to the starting line. For the run leg, short course runners went to Marianas Resort and back. In the long bike course, they passed through Bird Island and Banzai before returning to PauPau and for the run part, participants raced up to FEBC sign and back to the starting/finish line.
