Fire of unknown cause engulfed an abandoned semi-concrete one-story house near Saipan Southern High School along Tinaktak Drive in Koblerville on Monday afternoon.
No one was reported injured in the blaze, according to Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Derek Gersonde yesterday.
DFEMS received a call from an anonymous caller about a structure fire near Saipan Southern High School on Monday at 3:08pm.
Firefighters from the Susupe Fire Station and medics from Koblerville Fire Station immediately responded.
Firefighters placed the fire under control and fully extinguished at 3:40pm.
Gersonde said Arson Investigation Unit investigators determined that the fire started in the northeast portion of the house.
Gersonde said most of what fueled the fire were the wooden beams and truss holding up the tin roofing.
The case is under further investigation.
Last Dec. 4, fire broke out at a barbecue stand in San Vicente and investigators determined that the cause was electrical. The barbecue stand sustained minor damage.
