As a youth servicing stakeholder, staff of the Division of Youth Services of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs were invited to participate in the “Youth Mental Health First Aid Training” on Dec. 2, 2015.

This training was coordinated by the Systems of Care Program under the Community Guidance Center, who contracted the trainer out of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education.

A combination of regular staff, DYS interns and DYS parent leaders attended the training.  Certificates and Youth Mental Health First Aid cards were handed out to those who completed the program. The purpose of the training was to teach methods of assisting youth who may be in the early stages of developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. (DCCA)
