All 19 members present expressed confidence in Cabrera’s ability to continue where former board member Jose Mafnas left off.
Cabrera, who is also program director of the CNMI Workers Compensation Commission, was appointed to the SHEFA board by Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang earlier this month.
“I’m very delighted that the SNILD delegation was very optimistic in my presentation before them last week. I think I shared more than my two cents in what we can do to enhance [SHEFA]. I’ve been involved with policy for so long and I think it’s going to help enhance the SHEFA board,” Cabrera said.
Cabrera, who has worked in the private sector for several years and spent 27 years in government, said he understands the many obstacles students face when returning home for employment.
House floor leader Angel Demapan moved for the adoption of the standing committee report to approve Cabrera’s nomination.
