Tinian Dynasty’s casino to reopen Tuesday

Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino has gotten the go-signal to reopen its casino floor on Tuesday, Dec. 15, from the Tinian Casino Gaming and Control Commission.

In a phone interview yesterday afternoon, TCGCC executive director Lucy Blanco-Maratita confirmed the news. The application to reopen had been waiting approval from TCGCC.

“The commission has approved it for that date,” said Blanco-Maratita.

She added that the casino still had to meet the conditions of the application, but that it had been approved.

In an earlier interview, Maratita listed some of these conditions, among others, include:

• Payment of table and slot machine fees and outstanding taxes from last fiscal year, starting in August;

• Payment of unpaid employee salaries or a plan on how they will repay these employees’ back wages;

• Assurance that they will continue to contract services with Spectrum Gaming, a consultant, for casino management to help the casino maintain compliance;

• Identification and disclosure of the source of funds for its reopening.

The casino, if it reopens, will not be a 24-hour operation, Maratita earlier said.

It will open from 11am to 3am the following morning, and close between those hours, except for Friday through Saturday, where they will be open for 24 hours.

The Tinian casino is operated by the Tinian Dynasty. It was closed in August this year, followed by the hotel’s closure in September, with the management citing the impact of Typhoon Soudelor, which hit Saipan on Aug. 3.
