The first swimming tournament of the 2015-2016 season will be held tomorrow at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool.
The Saipan Swim Club-hosted meet will begin at 8am and will feature six events. The competition will start with two relays—the 4x100m freestyle and the 4x500m freestyle. In the individual races, SSC has lined up the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800 freestyle events with the longest swim taking place first.
Meanwhile, SSC members warmed up for the season-opening tournament with a mini meet last Saturday.
“It was an intramural club meet designed to give beginner, intermediate, and advance swimmers taking swimming lessons the chance to showcase what they have learned in their classes as well as instilling in them a sense of achievement and confidence in the water,” SSC head coach Jacoby Winkfield told Saipan Tribune.
“It was a fun event for everyone with the older swimmers in the water assisting the younger swimmers, parents taking pictures, and coaches as well seeing the swimmers hard work paying off,” he added.
The club’s swimming lessons resumed late as the Marpi pool was closed for more than three months in the aftermath of Typhoon Soudelor.
Classes are held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at three different levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. To enrol or for more information, contact SSC at saipanswimclub@gmail.com.
