2 villages to have temporary water service interruption

Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in three of Saipan’s southern villages will experience a temporary service interruption as part of an ongoing federally funded waterline improvement project.

On Monday, Dec. 14, CUC’s contractor, RNV Construction, will begin the disconnection and abandonment of the existing 8-inch asbestos concrete pipe (ACP) as part of the San Vicente Service Area Extension Project, funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

This phase of the project is in preparation for the waterline upgrade that will improve system pressure and create a more reliable water system.

CUC will limit the area affected by the nine-hour outage to customers along Chalan Tun Herman Pan (Airport Road) between Exploring Drive and Chalan Monsignor Martinez, as well as customers along Chalan Monsignor Guerrero from Tun Herman Pan to the NMC traffic signal, and along Chalan Monsignor Martinez from Chalan Monsignor Guerrero to Talapia Lane from 8am to 5pm.

For more information, visit CUC’s website www.cucgov.org or contact the CUC Customer Call Center at 664-4CUC (664-4282).

CUC is a non-profit autonomous agency of the CNMI government. The utility provides electric power, water and wastewater services to the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. (CUC)
