Casino posts $1.63B VIP rolling in Nov.

The Commonwealth Casino Commission confirmed yesterday a report that Saipan’s temporary casino, Best Sunshine Live, generated a VIP rolling of nearly $1.63 billion in November.

GGR Asia reported these numbers last week, citing a filing in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, but added that the document stated that the numbers were not audited.

“My understanding is that is correct,” said commission executive director Edward Deleon Guerrero yesterday. The commission monitors the financial earnings of the Saipan casino, Best Sunshine International, Ltd., daily.

Guerrero clarified that the $1.63 billion number is not the same as earnings or profits.

The rolling chip volume, he said, is not the amount of money earned but the amount of activities, as each non-negotiable chip played has a value.

“It’s a non-negotiable chip so they can play it over, and over and over,” he said. “[Rolling generated] tells you the volume of activities,” he said. “It’s a good indicator that you have activity.”

Guerrero also said they have not started junket operations, but were finalizing forms for these operators, who will “take the lead in bringing in high rollers to ensure the volume anticipated will be realized.”

“We have not started junket operations yet. These are just friends of the owners coming out to play,” he said.
