Nihon University professor Yukiko Koshiro and her students have created a special fruit juice to raise funds last month for students on Saipan, Saipan Tribune learned.

Also, the Nihon University campus library has agreed to include David M. Sablan’s book, A Degree of Success Through Curiosity, to its collection. The book is an intense personal narrative of overcoming the odds while growing up during and after World War II.

“I am anxious to send my students to the library and read it and learn about [David’s] life,” said Yukiko, who is from the school’s Department of Exchange Studies, College of International Relations.

Her students also plan to create a Japanese translation of Sablan’s book.

“My students sold special tropical drinks at the campus festival last month and declared to donate all the profits to Saipan. With help from the Marianas Visitors Authority Japan office, the students did quite well, and made good profits. We are going to combine the profits from the previous activities and get ready to send the donation to Saipan. Willie Matsumoto will help us determine how to do this. We hope this is going to be a very modest Christmas gift from Mishima, Japan,” she said. (Daisy Demapan)
