NMSA board to elect new officers next month

The Northern Mariana Sports Association will be choosing a new set of officers for 2016 after seven representatives from different sports associations were nominated to the board.

Any representative of a sports association that is a member of NMSA can be nominated to the board. The nomination was done in last Thursday’s NMSA meeting and the election of the board members will be held in the next meeting on Jan. 7.

Mike White (basketball), Jeff Race (tennis), Laurie Peterka (volleyball), Rose Igitol (baseball), Gil Birnbrich (canoe), Kurt Barnes (athletics), and Justing Andrew (canoe) were nominated to the NMSA board.

An athlete and student representative has yet to be nominated and will be filled at a latter time, while swimming’s John Hirsch declined to be nominated due to his busy schedule.

The board will then elect the new set of officers namely president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and auditor.
