A staff at the Department of Public Safety has filed a sexual harassment complaint against DPS director Aniceto T. Ogumoro.

This developed as Christopher Leon Guerrero also filed a police complaint against acting DPS commissioner Ambrosio T. Ogumoro for allegedly harassing him.

Aniceto and Ambrosio are brothers.

Saipan Tribune tried but failed yesterday to contact the Ogumoros for comments. Police spokesman Jason Tarkong, however, stated that Ambrosio Ogumoro has no official comment until after he has spoken with the Office of the Attorney General.

Tarkong said that DPS Internal Affairs is looking into the matter.

Saipan Tribune learned yesterday that Rose Ann C. Dela Cruz, an administrative officer 1 at DPS, filed the sexual harassment complaint against Aniceto Ogumoro last Thursday before the Office of Personnel Management and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

According to the complaint, Aniceto Ogumoro told Dela Cruz in Chamorro that he wanted to kiss her and that the police director also squeezed her hand tightly.

“I am currently experiencing a high amount of stress, anxiety/panic attacks anticipating going to work. I even had to leave work after the incident took place and am still feeling uneasy to go back to work because not only have I been emotionally disturbed by this event, but I am unable to sleep properly and currently taking anti-depressants,” said Dela Cruz in her complaint.

Dela Cruz stated that the incident happened on June 5, 2012, when Aniceto Ogumoro came behind her and stated in Chamorro, “Ai adai, sa chico,” which in English means “I want to kiss you.”

Dela Cruz said she felt uncomfortable so she told him to stop and that he just laughed.

Aniceto Ogumoro also allegedly reached for her hand and squeezed it tightly. Dela Cruz said she told Aniceto Ogumoro to stop and that was when a DPS staff walked in.

Dela Cruz said she told her husband about the incident when she got home for lunch.

With respect to the complaint against Ambrosio Ogumoro, Leon Guerrero alleged that on Monday afternoon he tried to serve the acting commissioner with a grievance in his office.

The grievance paper is against DPS and was filed before OPM against the department.

Ambrosio Ogumoro allegedly got mad and threw the paper back at Leon Guerrero.

Leon Guerrero, who is now working as a private detective, decided to file charges of assault and battery and disturbing the peace.
