BSI holds health screening tests
In observance of November as Diabetes Awareness and Prevention Month as proclaimed by acting governor Ralph DLG Torres, and in fulfillment of the company’s initiative to help promote a healthy lifestyle, Best Sunshine International, Ltd. held a successful blood glucose screening for its employees over the weekend.
With chief service officer Tao Xing and the corporate social responsibility team led by Rita Chong at the helm, BSI offered the free screening to assess diabetes health risks across the employee population.
Assisted by three volunteer nurses, the screening is the company’s initiative to help motivate employees into taking appropriate actions to improve overall health. Integrated into the screening were infographics and health care pamphlets provided to the employees to aid in diabetes health teaching, as well as a panel of nurses who provided one-on-one health coaching with nutrition and diet, preventive measures and interventions, and referrals to health care providers.
Best Sunshine emphasizes the importance of the employer in implementing these activities to meet a diverse range of needs and preferences among employees. Their wellness-related approach is supported by the staff and culminated with distribution of water and fresh fruits after the screening.
Esther Milne, manager of BSI’s corporate social responsibility team, said, “It is important for the company to show that our employees are taken cared of. This confirms our commitment to the endeavors of the government and corporate partners to help develop ways to educate and attend to the needs, not only of the public, but in our workplace as well.”
“Best Sunshine cares for their employees. It is about appreciation and responsiveness. A Thanksgiving feast is prepared for all the employees to thank them for their excellent service,” she added. (BSI)
