Pump failure causes multi-village water outage

Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in the villages of Kannat Tabla, Chalan Kiya, Fina Sisu, and Chalan Laulau experienced a temporary water service interruption yesterday when one of the booster pumps serving the Isley well field went offline late Monday evening.

CUC Operations personnel were able to repair the booster pump early Tuesday morning and the flow of water from the well field to the Kannat Tabla reservoir resumed soon after. Customers in the affected areas did not receive water during the repair and filing process due to low tank levels. Water service will resume this Wednesday morning once tank levels have been restored.

The Isley well field is in the vicinity of the Saipan International Airport and consists of a total of 60 wells, 19 of which produce water that is pumped to the Kannat Tabla reservoir via Isley Booster 1. The remaining wells produce water that is pumped to the Dandan reservoir (via Isley Booster 2), and the Isley reservoir, which serves CUC customers from San Antonio to San Jose.
