The Department of Public Safety kicked off Monday its CNMI Drunk, Drugged, Distracted and Drowsy Driving prevention campaign for the holiday season.

Acting governor Ralph DLG Torres signed a proclamation designating the period of Nov. 28, 2015 to Jan. 2, 2016, for the 4Ds prevention campaign.

As the people enter into the holiday season, many residents will be celebrating with friends and family throughout the island, Torres said. “While we are celebrating, it is important to be safe and responsible,” he said.

DPS will be out in full force this season to ensure that drivers abide by laws and protect the lives of all who share the roads.

“If you are planning to drink, please designate a driver that can take you and your loved ones home safely and responsibly. Let’s do our part to ensure that this holiday season is fun, enjoyable and, most of all, safe,” Torres said.

DPS Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero urged the community to join the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign from Nov. 28 to Jan. 2.
