MJD/GPPC whipped CES Electronics, 91-59, in the masters division game, while KB Market pounded Triple J in the open pairing, 114-84.

Jun Tabora sizzled for 31 points in MJD/GPPC’s demolition of CES Electronic and handed his team a 4-0 record and a share of the lead with idle GMJ/IKKI. CES Electronics fell to a 1-6 record and needs to win its remaining game to boost its playoff bid. Only the Top 8 teams out of the nine participating squads will advance to the playoffs and CES is at the No. 8 spot, just slightly ahead of winless Maplas (0-5).

Tabora made his presence felt early in their game against CES, knocking in 10 points in the first period that ended with MGD/GPPC enjoying a double-digit spread, 25-13. MJD/GPPC went on to widen the gap in the last three quarters with Tabora’s three other teammates also finishing in double figures en route to their 30-point winning margin. Alex Ocampo had 16 points, while Jun Alipio and Boboy Sampang contributed 15 and 10, respectively.

Bobby Dela Cruz paced CES Electronics with his 12 points, while Sonny Ebuen and John Capuyon chipped in 10 apiece.

Meanwhile, KB Market was on fire against Triple J to end its regular-season bid in the East Group on a winning note.

KB Market won its last three games after going 0-4 and pending results of last night’s matches, it occupies the No. 4 spot in the team standings behind top finisher MJD (6-1), Sonics (5-2), Ask Y U B (5-2) and Islander Hoops (4-2). Triple J is at seventh spot with its 1-5 mark, while Maplas (1-4) and 5-Star Construction (0-5) are at No. 6 and No. 8, respectively. All eight squads will march into the playoff round with the Top 4 teams battling the lower-ranked squads in a single-elimination format.

KB Market remained in the race for the Top 4 spot after getting a strong shooting night from Matt Duenas, Preston Basa, and Lerio Pagarao, who combined for more than half of the team’s total production against Triple J. Duenas led all scorers with his 32 points, while Basa and Pagarao tallied 24 apiece. Leo Itaas and Ryan Manglona also had double figures for KB Market, registering 18 and 14, respectively.

KB Market opened a 29-14 lead at the end of the first period, behind the 10 points of Duenas to set up the lopsided win.

Tillman Clark had 21 markers for the skidding Triple J, which dropped its last five games.
