Tropical storm seen to become a typhoon today
Tropical Storm In-Fa is looking better organized east of Lukunor, according to the latest information from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center.
As of 4pm yesterday, the center of Tropical Storm In-Fa was located by satellite about 905 miles southeast of Guam and about 930 miles southeast of Saipan. It is moving west-northwest at 17 mph.
Tropical Storm In-Fa is expected to continue in this direction with a slight decrease in forward speed through today, Thursday. In-Fa will turn more to the west tonight and Friday. This track will take In-Fa between Fananu and Chuuk Lagoon as a typhoon today.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 60 mph. In-Fa is expected to continue intensifying over the next few days, becoming a typhoon this evening. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 85 miles from the center.
The CNMI Emergency Operations Center will be monitoring the movement of Tropical Storm In-Fa and will be issuing bulletins as they become available.
