Seo, Carey take top spots in Tour of Guam
TUMON, Guam—In just a little more than three hours, Joon Yong Seo from Korea claimed his first ever Tour of Guam title, winning the 105km Competitive Long Course in the open men’s division with a time of 3:01:13, besting last year’s winning time of 3:19:17 set by Guam’s Peter Lombard.

Lombard finished in second place with a personal best 3:07:04, followed closely behind by fellow Guam cyclist Patrick Camacho at a time of 3:07:05.
Guam’s top male cyclists Lombard and Camacho have made their way to the podium for the past two events, followed closely by Jonathan Martin, who finished in fourth place this year with a time of 3:07:06.
Meiko Carey took the 105km Competitive Long Course women’s open division with a finish time of 3:15:22. Manami Iijima (4:06:08) and Sarah Huber (4:13:29) finished in second and third place, respectively, in that same division.
Guam Visitors Bureau, along with Guam Sports Events, Inc., welcomed more than 30 international cyclists and their families to participate in the regions premier cycling event for age group racers and visitors. The 7th Annual Tour of Guam took place on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, starting and finishing at the Ada’s Capitol Plaza in Hagatna with cyclists enjoying the scenic southern and central roads of Guam along the way.
“Much like the Ko’ko’ Road Race and the Guam International Marathon, Tour of Guam is another wonderful opportunity for us to share our hospitality and beauty of our island with our visitors. The Hafa Adai spirit of our resident cyclists and their interaction with visiting cyclists made this year’s Tour of Guam an incredible experience,” said Ben Ferguson, Managing Director for Guam Sports Events, Inc. “I’d like to thank everyone who made this event happen, from the Guam Police Department, the Guam Fire Department and the Mayor’s Council of Guam, to our marshals who looked out for our cyclists on the course and the Notre Dame High School students who helped to keep our cyclists hydrated. Thank you for a job well done.”
