Price Ekon Shoiter, a 68-year-old registered sex offender, was arrested again on Sunday for allegedly sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl in Dandan.

Shoiter was taken to Superior Court yesterday on charges of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and offenses involving a minor victim. His bail was set at $50,000 cash. Preliminary hearing is on Nov. 27 at 9am.

Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig was appointed as counsel for Shoiter.

According to police detective Rhonda C. John, a police officer responded to a residence in Dandan on Sunday at 6:14pm after the Department of Public Safety received a call about a sexual abuse incident.

John said the investigation showed that the girl was sleeping when Shoiter fondled her privates.

The girl told a relative about what Shoiter did, but she was told not to report the incident to her father. The girl eventually told her father about what happened.

Shoiter was convicted in March 2004 of sexually abusing a minor.
