A man was arrested in Agrigan for an alleged shooting incident last week, Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.

According to a source, the suspect, identified as Jose R. Selepeo, was escorted by two police officers aboard a helicopter to Saipan on Wednesday afternoon, but was released the following day because of lack of evidence to support the charges.

The source said police released Selepeo because there was no witness and no gun was found.

The source said the allegation was that the suspect was shooting at some people but nobody was hurt.

When asked for information about the alleged shooting incident, Department of Public Safety Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero said he will release more details about that case during a press briefing today, Monday.

Agrigan is a densely forested island north of Saipan. There are about three to five families who live there.
