Judge resets change of plea hearing in child porn case
The scheduled change of plea hearing last Tuesday for a man charged with possession of a laptop that contained child pornographic materials was postponed to today, Friday, in federal court.
At the Tuesday scheduled change of plea hearing for defendant Vincent M. Songsong, assistant U.S. attorney Russell Lorfing informed the court that the U.S. government was unaware if any victims were actually identified and contacted.
Attorney Colin Thompson, the court-appointed counsel for Songsong, did not object to a short continuance of the change of plea hearing.
Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent Hae Jun Park stated that the victim notification specialist is currently in Guam. Park said he would contact the specialist immediately after the hearing to confirm whether the victims have been notified or that attempts have been made to notify them.
After going over the plea agreement with the parties, U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona ordered that the change of plea hearing will instead be continued today at 9am.
The indictment charged Songsong with one count of child pornography.
According to the indictment, from Feb. 17, 2014, until Feb. 25, 2014, Songsong knowingly possessed a laptop computer containing visual depiction of a child less than 12 years old engaging in sex.
