SEDA secretary Warlee Ellama and the captains of all participating teams in the Bud Light darts league held a meeting last Saturday, Nov. 7, at Doro’s Lechon to plan the upcoming season that will open on Nov. 30, Monday.

Participating teams will try to rack up the most number of wins for the eight division titles at stake—Masters, A, Ladies, Tuesday B, Chichirika, Kingfisher C, Thursday Fanihi, and Flame Tree B.

Ellama said that league rules remain as in the previous seasons and they would not implement any new regulations. The deadline for team sign up is on Nov. 23, Monday.

He added that nine bars would field in teams in the new season after three regular sponsors begged off as their respective establishments either remain closed or would no longer open following the devastation of Soudelor.

Abyss, Route 33, and Sand Juvy are the three restaurants that are still closed and are still waiting for renovation. Smoke Pub Bar & Grill, however, would be converted to a restaurant.

Jonny’s Bar & Grill, VFW Post 3457, Blue Koi Tavern, Sands Café & Bar, Jokers Bar & Restaurant, Wild Bills Bar & Grill, 6JMS Sports Bar, Doro’s Lechon, and Oleai Beach Bar & Grill will be sponsoring teams this season.

SEDA also held a double-elimination tournament on Saturday where 12 players joined.

Jeff Barit topped the event after beating Pam Ybanez in the finals to go home with $80 and a trophy.

Ybanez, who had to beat Jhun Lambon in semifinals of the losers bracket to earn the right to face Barit, won a Silver Thunder dart set and $40 cash. He lost to Barit in the semis of the winners bracket.

Barit went undefeated beating Peter Togawa, Jhun Lambon, and Jose Orsco on his way to the finals.

Ybanez bested the likes of Rey Trasporto, Aldibert Lizama, and Chris Monsanto before losing to Barit.
