Leidos wants more time to finalize report on IRP
The consultant hired by the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to analyze bids for an integrated resource management plan has asked for more time to finalize its report and give recommendations.
In an executive session last Friday, CUC board members spoke with Leidos Engineering LLC.
According to CUC board chair Adelina Roberto, the firm asked for a one-month extension to give its recommendations.
“They don’t have anything for us new other than what was the continuation from the last time,” Roberto said.
Leidos wasn’t able to finish their presentation to the CUC board at their last meeting.
“They didn’t finish their report. They just did a presentation they’re continuing on from the last time,” Roberto said.
She added that Leidos is working on their final draft.
“They were supposed to give us the final draft today but it was not done,” Roberto said.
In August, Saipan Tribune reported that Leidos was down to five bids: “Renewable 1” which offers a range of solar generation, both with and without storage, with options for site control at specific feeders; “Renewable 2” which provides simple solar generation with 10-megawatt max capacity; “Thermal 1” which has a project that involves diesel engines burning heavy fuel oil; “Thermal 2” which has plans for diesel engines burning light fuel at 30 megawatt max capacity; and “Thermal 3” which was described by Leidos as a project ranging from “extending CUC’s existing assets to new diesel engines burning light fuel.”
