Argument leads to domestic violence
A couple’s argument after a few drinks at a bar led to a domestic violence incident inside a car and at their home in Kagman early Friday morning.
Dean Anthony Frederick Maratita Borja, 31, was arrested for assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and interfering with a domestic violence report. His bail was set yesterday at $10,000 cash. Preliminary hearing is on Nov. 16 at 9am.
The police report did not mention the injuries of the alleged victim.
Assistant public defender Matthew Meyer was appointed as counsel for Borja. Assistant attorney general Shannon Foley represented the government.
According to police, two officers were dispatched to a reported domestic violence at a house in Kagman on Saturday at 3:52am.
The victim told police that she and Borja had a few drinks on Friday night and were on their way home when they had an argument. When the wife told Borja to stop the car so she could take over driving it, he allegedly hit her face with his right hand.
Upon arriving home, Borja allegedly pulled her by the hair, causing her to fall backward into the car. Later inside their bedroom, Borja allegedly punched her several times until his sister intervened.
The victim tried to call police on her cellphone but Borja ran after her and allegedly choked her. He also allegedly kicked her once on the thigh and right wrist and punched her on the face.
The victim ran to her sister-in-law’s bedroom, where she locked herself. A neighbor called the police.
