Joeten-Kiyu Public Library resumes normal hours

The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will resume its normal hours beginning Nov. 10, 2015. Normal hours are from Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 6pm, and on Saturday, 9am to 4pm. The library is close on Sunday, Monday, and holidays.

JKPL has been closed due to damage suffered from Typhoon Soudelor. The library sustained damage to the roof, ceiling, front circulation counter, ITC, and Young Adult area.

“The community needs us. We did everything we could with the little that we have to be able to repair [the] damage so that our community is able to use their public library again,” a statement from the library said.

The library was able to temporarily patch up the damage with the help of the Department of Corrections, Department of Public Safety, Saipan Mayor’s Office, and Department of Lands and Natural Resources’ Parks and Recreation so it could re-open.

It has already submitted an application for public assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help repair the damage and is also awaiting the results of a funding request with the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation.
