A man arrested for allegedly burglarizing an apartment in Garapan has pleaded guilty plea and was slapped with two months and 10 days imprisonment.

Xin Liang, 25, pleaded guilty to criminal mischief as part of a plea deal.

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman sentenced Liang to four months imprisonment, all suspended except for two months and 10 days, with credit for an equivalent period of time served. That means he will no longer serve more jail time.

Liang was placed on six months of probation and ordered to pay $80 in restitution to the victim, $100 fine, and $25 court assessment fee.

Police said it was the neighbors of Wo Qiang Gao who called the police and reported a burglary in progress in the afternoon of June 16, 2015, when they saw Liang climbing out of the victim’s apartment’s window.

The victim said it was the second time his room was burglarized, but that nothing was stolen in the latest incident.

The suspect gained entry through the air-conditioning vent. The air-conditioning unit was damaged after it fell on the floor.
