‘407 SBA loans approved’

The U.S. Small Business Administration said it has approved 407 loans that includes home and business applications out of the 1,287 applications it received from victims of Typhoon Soudelor.

The new figure clarifies the 274 loans SBA was said to have approved, as earlier cited by Community Advocates for Recovery Efforts director Jenny Hegland.

SBA public information officer William Koontz made the correction to Saipan Tribune and added that the 407 approved loans bring $19.6 million in assistance for home and business recovery efforts.

During a presentation to Rotary Club of Saipan at the Hyatt last Tuesday, Hegland also shared that 8,806 people registered for FEMA and only 28 were offered the max grant of $32,900, which is completely separate from SBA’s program.
