Agape got the first win in the double-header, beating SIS 2 in all three sets of their middle school division match. The Torchbearers cruised to victory in the opening set, 25-14, before hanging tough in the second, 26-24, for the outright triumph. In the third set, which was played in case of a tie at the end of the elimination round and to give players more time to play, Agape and SIS were still neck-and-neck with the former eking out a 15-12 win.

In the high school division, the Geckos foiled an Agape sweep as SIS 2 topped the visiting team. SIS 2 labored to a 26-24 win in the first set and had another close victory in the second, 25-20, to take the automatic triumph. In the third set, SIS 2 prevailed anew, 15-9.

The win against Agape in the boys high school division was the Geckos’ second against the former. Last week, SIS 1 visited Agape and also swept its foe.

SIS 1 played, too, last Thursday and defeated sister team SIS 3. One more high school division match took place last Thursday with Mt. Carmel School winning over Grace Christian Academy at the former’s home turf. The GCA Eagles’ middle school team, on the other hand, was victorious on their home court in Navy Hill after downing Seventh Day Adventist. Finals scores of these three matches, along with the two other co-ed middle school games were unavailable at press time.

The two other middle school matches were played at Whispering Palms and MCS Gym. Whispering Palms hosted Saipan Community School 1, while SCS’ second team visited the Knights in Chalan Kanoa.

Meanwhile, action in the COPSSA volleyball league will resume tomorrow with six games to take place in five different venues.

At SCS’ court in Susupe, SCS 1 will face Agape, while SCS 2 will go to Whispering Palms for another co-ed middle school pairing. Over at SDA court in Chalan Kiya, the host will challenge Mt. Carmel, while GCA will visit the Geckos for a showdown against SIS 1.

In the high school division, the SIS 1 will square off against GCA in the boys play at SIS, while the Eagles will host SIS 1 in the girls matchup. Games will start at 3:30pm.
