Acting governor Ralph DLG Torres expressed his gratitude to Jordahl, stating, “Throughout the government, we need private entities and with your contribution we make this recovery more of a reality.”

NMTI chief executive officer Agnes McPhetres and director Rip Stephanson were thanked by CARE for their generosity in allowing Bridge Capital to store the materials at the NMTI warehouse.

McPhetres, in a plea to Bridge Capital, presented a letter to COO Jordahl, hinting at a possible partnership with the technical and trades institute.

“We need the facilities to move forward with our training. We really have to thank the late Tony Pelligrino for envisioning this but many of our classrooms were destroyed and we hope that you’ll also consider NMTI,” she said.

She also added that, “This is a big help for those not qualified for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) or SBA (Small Business Administration) assistance.”

The construction materials include 800 roof sheets, 700 pieces of U.S.-pressure treated lumber, 1,000 hurricane straps, 15,000 roof screws, 2,500 lbs of nails, and 50 gallons of roof cement that will be used toward the rebuilding of homes identified by CARE.

Bridge Capital has been an active network partner of CARE, which is a network of private and public entities identifying, facilitating, and delivering resources and long-term support to address the unmet needs of the community. (Daisy Demapan)
