12 students and locals to go on a 5-day trip to Japan
Students and locals from the CNMI will be having a five-day trip to Japan next month.
According to the Saipan Mayor’s Office student cultural exchange program coordinator Yuki Kishimoto, nine students and three chaperones will participate in the educational and cultural trip from Nov. 13 to 18.
The visit is sponsored by Kokusai Seishonen Kenshu Kyokai or KSKK.
Kishimoto said the itinerary of the students includes sightseeing, shopping and a trip to Disneyland.
“We will be spending a day or two with the host families and during the rest of the stay, we will be at the National Youth Center,” Kishimoto added.
The students, namely Jonathan Wolf, Sieji Gonzales, Selina Taitano, Roderick Jarae Pierce, Genzo Gonzales, Yoo Jin Park, Emily An, Shizuka Takayama, and Debby Siu, range from sixth to 12th graders and are from Dandan Middle School, Chacha Ocean View Middle School, Saipan Community School, Kagman High School, Mount Carmel School, and Marianas High School.
Zolenska Yaroitemal, the 2015 Liberation Queen will also join the students. Chaperons will be Margaret Aldan and Kishimoto.
Kishimoto said KSKK students will in turn be visiting Saipan this December.
The next Japan trip will be hosted by Sanpo-en on February.
“They weren’t able to visit Saipan during summer due to Typhoon Soudelor, but those that weren’t able to make it this summer are planning to visit next summer,” Kishimoto said.
KSKK and Sanpo-en group has been visiting Saipan for over 30 years. They visit the island annually during summer, but KSKK usually come twice a year on summer and winter. In exchange, the students of Saipan also get the chance to visit Japan.
KSKK trips are usually during autumn on October or November and February under Sanpo-en.
