GMJ/IKKI is perfect in three games to remain on top of the leaderboard in the West Group, while Ferrera absorbed its second loss in as many matches.

New recruit Jose Oyola led GMJ/IKKI’s rout of Ferrera, as he scored 34 points in his debut on Saipan. Oyola put the finishing touches in GMJ/IKKI’s crushing of Ferrera, knocking in the team’s last 22 points. He had a total of 27 markers in the fourth quarter alone and hit six triples in that one-sided match.

Josue Melendez backed up Oyola, adding 21 markers, while six other GMJ/IKKI players scored at least 5 points apiece to keep the team’s unblemished record.

GMJ/IKKI raced to a 9-0 lead, holding Ferrera scoreless for nearly three minutes into the first quarter, which ended with the former up by 15, 29-14. GMJ/IKKI protected its double-digit lead in the last three cantos, as its offensive prowess proved to be too much against Ferrera.

Meanwhile, Pacific Islands Club and Ask Y U B downed separate foes in the two open division matches last Sunday.

Ask Y U B clobbered Maplas, 95-55, to improve to a 3-1 record and bounce back from its previous loss to MJD Enterprise last week.

Four Ask Y U B broke into double figures for their 40-point victory. Djay Ong had a team-high 21 markers, Dave Camacho chipped in 18, while Sid Quan and Jethro Cruz contributed 11 apiece.

Ong and company started strong, taking a 22-8 lead after the first period and never looked back to bag their third victory and hand Maplas its second defeat in as many matches.

In the other open division game last Sunday, PIC made it to the win column after losing its debut to Pacman following an 80-67 triumph over GMI Market (1-1).

The GMI Market-PIC tiff was a close fight in the first three periods before the latter gained cushion in the final canto, thanks to Jake Quitugua’s successive baskets. The PIC wingman scored 11 of his 24 points in the fourth frame, including 7 of his team’s last 9 markers.
