All Mobil gas stations on Saipan now operational
Mobil announced Friday that its Chalan Piao service station, which suffered significant damage as a result of Typhoon Soudelor, is now operational.
In a statement Friday, Mobil said that motorists gassing up at the Chalan Piao station may use a temporary kiosk at the service station to refuel. Work continues on the building that houses the convenience store in the back court of the station. The convenience store is expected to open for business sometime in the first quarter of next year.
Ten of Mobil’s service stations sustained minor damage when Typhoon Soudelor hit the island in early August. They were quickly fixed and were open to first responders and essential services within a day after the typhoon.
With services restored at the Chalan Piao station, Mobil’s entire network of service stations on Saipan is now open to serve the public.
While repair work on the station was carried out by local contractors, the Mobil team on Saipan also tapped the company’s resources and expertise from around the region, for the various other matters that were required for the station to be operational. There was also close coordination with the government agencies for the necessary permits and approvals required for the temporary kiosk at the site.
Charles Ewart, president of Mobil Oil Mariana Islands said: “The opening of Chalan Piao service station just three months after it was badly damaged by the typhoon is a testament to the quality and commitment our team in Saipan and Guam.
“They pressed on and worked to resolve various challenges to put up the temporary kiosk so that we can begin serving our customers safely in this part of Saipan while the longer-term repair work is undertaken.” (Mobil)
