Academy to offer allied health courses
Based on the success of its Hotel & Hospitality Certification courses, the Latte Training Academy Inc. will begin offering allied health courses in the CNMI. The organization’s recent partnership with the Guam Marianas Training Center will expand the program offerings that the organization will host. The course expansions include courses to be a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Pharmacy Technician, a Certified Medical Billing & Coding Specialist, or a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. All courses will prepare students for national certifications through the National Healthcareer Association and the American Medical Certification Association.
“We are extremely excited to begin working with the fine folks at the Guam Marianas Training Center and begin offering the variety of allied health courses to members of our community. With the continued need to prepare our workforce to address the impending labor transition, we believe that this partnership is a strategic way to ensure that we have an adequate labor pool in the critical area of health care” said LTA secretary Tina Palacios.
The organization, which began offering courses through the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute for in the summer of 2014, plans on the continued expansion of its programs. The board of directors will begin assessing the need and demand for the course offerings it currently offers through its job placement efforts following completion of its courses.
“Although we want to ensure that we diversify our course offerings, it is important for us to offer courses that result in the gainful employment of our participants. The training component is only one piece of the puzzle and as an organization, we would rather be judged on the success that our students have as a result of completing one of our career readiness programs,” said LTA treasurer Erick Van Der Maas.
Participants who qualify for funding through the CNMI Department of Labor’s Workforce Investment Agency program are encouraged to register for the upcoming courses by visiting www.lattetrainingacademy.com or through contacting their case managers at the Department of Labor. (LTA)
