BREAKING NEWS: PSS SUSPENDS CLASSES ON SAIPAN AS A PRECAUTION
With the approaching tropical disturbance that will bring deteriorating weather, Education Commissioner Dr. Rita A. Sablan, in consultation with the CNMI State Board of Education, has suspended public school classes on Saipan for Tuesday, October 13, 2015. Professional Development on Tinian and Rota are expected as scheduled. All PSS staff on Saipan except for 190-day employees are expected to report to work.
“The classes are suspended as a precaution due to the forming weather system. Also, there are precautionary measures that are in place for all of our public elementary, middle and high schools that cover proper protection and safeguarding of our school facilities,” Dr. Sablan said.
She added, “We are just slowly recovering from the devastation of typhoon Soudelor and to mitigate further damage to our public school facilities and ensure continued safety and security of our students and staff, we are initiating this temporary suspension of school instruction for Oct. 13, 2015.”
The education chief also encouraged public school students, parents, guardians and the community to constantly monitor updates coming from our school district, by visiting our PSS website (www.cnmipss.org) and our local media partners. (PSS)
